Multidisciplinary Support Following a Motor Vehicle Accident

The challenge

Following a serious motor vehicle accident, a patient came to Revive with multiple fractures, including broken ribs, and significant knee injuries that required surgery. The accident substantially affected his mobility, independence, and daily life, including leaving him unable to drive.

His recovery required long-term rehabilitation, pain management, and support from multiple healthcare providers.

A coordinated approach to recovery

At Revive, the patient received multidisciplinary care from our physiotherapy and chiropractic teams.

Twinkle and Taylor provided physiotherapy focused on his post-surgical rehabilitation, mobility, strength, function, and gradual progress toward greater independence. Treatment was adjusted throughout his recovery according to his abilities, symptoms, and goals.

Kyle provided chiropractic care to assist with pain management and mobility. By working together, the clinical team was able to support different aspects of the patient’s recovery while maintaining a coordinated, patient-centred approach.

Our reception team—Amanda, Sarah, and Maria—also helped make each visit as organized and stress-free as possible by coordinating appointments and providing consistent administrative support.

The outcome

Through ongoing multidisciplinary care, the patient reported improved pain management and mobility. He also felt listened to, informed about his treatment, and encouraged throughout the recovery process.

In the patient’s words

“The entire team at Revive Physiotherapy and Wellness works together to create a positive, caring, and supportive environment. I am incredibly grateful for everything they’ve done for me and for helping me through one of the most difficult times of my life.”

Rehabbing two Hip Replacements at Revive

The challenge

Following a right total hip replacement, a patient came to Revive for post-operative physiotherapy. His rehabilitation focused on healing safely, restoring mobility and strength, and gradually returning to everyday activities.

After achieving an outstanding outcome from his first rehabilitation experience, the patient later underwent replacement of his other hip and chose to return to Revive for his second recovery.

Revive’s approach

Treatment was tailored to the patient’s stage of healing, functional abilities, and personal goals. His physiotherapy program included:

  • Education about recovery and activity progression
  • Improving walking and lower-extremity weight acceptance
  • Restoring hip mobility within appropriate post-operative guidelines
  • Progressive strengthening and functional exercises
  • Scar and surrounding soft-tissue treatment when appropriate
  • Guidance for gradually increasing walking and daily activity

The program was adjusted throughout both recoveries to support safe, steady progress. Revive’s reception team also assisted with scheduling and helped the patient navigate communication with his insurance provider.

The outcome

The patient achieved an excellent outcome following rehabilitation for his first hip replacement. His positive experience and confidence in the care he received led him to return to Revive following his second hip replacement.

His second rehabilitation experience has continued to support his mobility, strength, and return to function, with the patient describing the care as even better than his first experience.

In the patient’s words

“My first experience was outstanding and the second has been even better. From the original greeting and scheduling by the staff right through the actual treatment received from Twinkle, it has been nothing but first class.”

Finding Relief Through Pelvic Floor Physiotherapy

The challenge

For a long time, this patient had been experiencing severe constipation and difficulty fully emptying her bowels. She was later identified as having a rectocele, a form of pelvic organ prolapse that can contribute to obstructed bowel movements and a persistent sensation of incomplete emptying.

Although the symptoms were significantly affecting her daily life, she felt hesitant about beginning pelvic floor physiotherapy and continued putting off her concerns. After hearing about her husband’s positive experience at Revive, he encouraged her to schedule an initial appointment.

Revive’s approach

Care began with a respectful, private assessment and a detailed conversation about her symptoms and concerns. Each step was explained clearly, and treatment progressed according to her comfort level.

Her individualized pelvic floor physiotherapy program included:

  • Education about the pelvic floor and bowel function
  • Strategies to improve bowel habits and reduce straining
  • Toileting positions and techniques to support more complete emptying
  • Breathing and pressure-management strategies
  • Pelvic floor relaxation and coordination exercises
  • A progressive home exercise program based on treatment milestones

The goal was to help her better understand her condition and give her practical tools she could use confidently outside the clinic.

The outcome

With pelvic floor physiotherapy , the patient achieved a successful outcome, including meaningful improvement in her constipation and ability to empty her bowels. She also became more confident discussing and managing concerns she had previously delayed addressing.

Her experience highlights that pelvic health concerns are common, treatable, and nothing to feel embarrassed about. Starting the conversation can be an important first step toward feeling better.

In the patient’s words

“Twinkle has really helped me with concerns I had been putting off for way too long. She is absolutely professional and has shared her vast expertise in a way that humanized my concerns and situation, offering me great techniques and exercises that build on previous milestones we have achieved.”
